Our questionnaires

For course evaluation, we have various feedback instruments available in German and English. Our portfolio is structured in a modular system.

There is a so-called Basic Questionnaire (formerly Short Questionnaire), which can be used to evaluate the most important aspects of your course from the students' perspective as well as from your perspective as lecturer.

For a more comprehensive evaluation of your course, you can supplement the Basic Questionnaire with various Add-on Modules. By choosing the Add-on Modules, you can individualize your questionnaire and inquire about exactly those aspects of your course that are of particular interest to you. In this way, we hope to meet the specific needs of different course types and disciplines.

If you do not want to compile your questionnaire individually, you can still use our tried and tested questionnaires for the most common course types: lecture, seminar or exercise/tutorial.

For the evaluation of continuing education measures, our Workshop Questionnaire is available. This only covers the perspective of the participants.

If specific aspects of your course are not covered by our questionnaires or Add-on Modules, you can address your own topics in the Free Items Add-on Module.

Under the menu item Portfolio you will find further information about our offer, sample questionnaires, as well as an overview of our results presentations.

Evaluation methods

For your evaluation, you can choose between paper-based and online-based evaluation methods.

With the paper-based version, we send you the evaluation documents by (university internal) post and you give your participants time to fill out the questionnaires during the course.

In the online-based method, there are two ways of conducting the survey:

With the option "online", you define an evaluation period. Your participants and, if applicable, you yourself can evaluate the course at any time during this evaluation period. This is done via an online survey. We will send you the link to the questionnaire by e-mail one day before the evaluation period begins.

With the option "online in presence", you give your students time during the course to complete the questionnaires, similar to a paper-based evaluation. However, not with paper sheets, but online on their mobile devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc.). In addition, other participants (who were not present in this session) can also still evaluate during the remaining evaluation period. This procedure combines the advantages of the two other evaluation methods ("paper-based" vs. "online"):

  • it can be used for both face-to-face and digital courses
  • a similarly high level of participation can be expected as with paper-based questionnaires
  • it can be used to evaluate co-teaching courses (individual feedback to each lecturer)
  • it is extremely resource-efficient and sustainable

Since the summer semester 2022, a QR code is also available for students to scan with their smartphones to facilitate access to the online survey during the course. One day before the evaluation starts, we will send you the link to the survey as well as a presentation template with the QR code by e-mail.

The menu item Procedure de contains further information on the exact procedure for the different evaluation methods.

Co-Teaching

If a course is led by several lecturers (Co-Teaching), individual feedback to the different lecturers can be interesting. In a so-called Co-Teaching evaluation, the block of questions on the "contribution of the lecturer" is therefore answered separately for each lecturer by the participants and reported back individually. The perspective of the different lecturers will be included as an average in the presentation of results.

Please note that a Co-Teaching evaluation can only be conducted in the online-based evaluation method.

Here you can find more information about the procedure of a Co-Teaching evaluation de.
